Default Alpine vs Rockford Fosgate

I'm considering either getting Alpine type R 6.5' component fronts and coaxle 6x9's or RF Punch's..

Would they sound alright if I had the type R speakers off the Head unit for now untill I can afford an amp?
And which amp guys?

Cheers

I have never heard components that sounded good off of deck power. For that matter, I have rarely heard coaxes that sound good off of deck power. My opinion would be to buy an amp first and use the oem speakers until you save up for the aftermarket speakers you want.

Default About Alpine Type R speakers

I owned alpine type R 61/2

I know own Focal 165v30

the alpine type R speakers are really harsh in the tweeter area

they have great mid bass when you buy extra speakers baffels and coat them with dynamate then they are sealed and sound really good.

but it also depends on your cars speakers location

in my 1995 mustang gt it was in the sail panel and it was harsh and i had to turn them down to -8db but you might like harsh tweeters our listen to rap

i listen to 80s rock and older rock so over all there ok speakers for the price i would not pay over 100 for them

i would go with focal access like over alpine anyday

our if you want the real deal go with focal 165v2 there amazing speakers and sound better then most

In this case I would choose Alpine.
