I have a 98 Cavalier which is totally gut-less. It is a 2.2 liter 4 cylinder. I have gone the route of intake and exhaust. I need a major boost in power and performance. Do you have any other suggestions other than buying a new car? The venom 400 was a thought.
Thanks.

Tough engine to have as there aren't that many things that are tailor made for the GM engines. The Focus is about the only domestic compact that has alot of engine options right now. About the only thing I can suggest is a dry nitrous kit, which is only about $500 plus installation. That or an engine swap if a GM V6 will fit under your hood.

there is a TON for the 2.2
you can use TRD parts also man as it's their engine basically

lets see there is headers, throttle bodies, cold air intakes, super chargers, catback exhaust
not much on brake or suspension though without going through TRD specifically

good luck oh and you will learn you can get performance parts for any car, just may take some work of other parts

only reason focus got ahead of the domestic game, adn the imports in some fields is cause
most of the suppliers for the parts are also Mustang shops

The 2.2 is a Toyata engine? I knew the Prism engine was thiers, but the 2.2? This is the same raspy sounding crap *** engine out of the Saturn LS too, right?

it's not really their engine
it was a joint venture of the two companies
but I also know it 2.2L changed twice during it's term(not sure what years though)
the biggest problem is GM and Saturn's trannies or atleast that is my opinion on it

best thing you can do if you do not know about your car is find an online forum of the hardcore fans and they can help you out

Cool

Been there, thats why I came here. I'm a member of www.jbody.org and no one knows what they are talking about. Everyone there basically has the same mechanical "know how" that I do. All they do is bicker and squabble over 2.2 vs Z24's. I should have bought a Monte Carlo!! Anyhow, any advise is appreciated.

WOW!
Thank you very much for all the work.
That brings up another question. I have a lot of weight in my trunk, if anyone rides in the back seat they get sea-sick. What should I do to fix this? I've been told coilovers will not do the trick.
P.S.
If you are interested in seeing what I've done so far goto:

click on "MEMBERS" on the left
search for "Mennitti".
