Default Do I need Alpine Imprint with CDA-9887?

This is my set-up so far:

Head unit: Alpine CDA-9887 (not installed)
Components: Alpine SPR-17S
Subwoofer: Alpine SWR-1042D
Amps: Alpine MRP-F600 and MRP-M500 (mono)

My installer told me that since my head unit is good quality and has lots of adjustments built-in, I don't need to spend money on an Alpine Imprint. The salesperson at the audioshop that I got the head unit from told me something similar.

I'm just wondering if this is true. Is Imprint for guys who don't have opportunity to have their set-up tuned by a pro or would it make a difference even on a good quality head unit? I would like to do my sound system once and do it right so any help would be appreciated.

It's completely up to you. I like the Imprint feature but I would have a shop do the actual "Imprint" for you. The reason being is that it requires a kit that uses a microphone and software. I'm sure it would be cheaper for you to pay a shop to do it than for you to buy the kit yourself. Besides that the shop would be trained at how to complete the process. Nonetheless, it looks like you have a very good system. Ultimately it's up to you. Everybody has their own opinion on what sounds good. It's not too difficult for an installer to do the Imprint after you've initially listened to the vehicle. If you like the way it sounds without the Imprint, save yourself the money. If you're looking for something different, invest the extra cash.

Imprint isn't neccessarily meant for someone who doesn't have the opportunity to have their vehicle tuned by a pro. It's meant to save installers time when doing tuning, which saves everybody money. To tune a car with a typical sound processor it can take hours or even days to get the sound correct. Imprint is designed to make that process quick and easy.
