Hello all. First time back in a few years. I need a little assistance. The new Mazda 6 came out and it instantly attracted me. So I'm buying it.
Now, on to the questions... This thing comes from the factory with the Bose system. It has a 5 channel (surround?) with subwoofer, two fronts, a center, and two rears. Now, the factory head unit has all the cool integration stuff that I desperately want to keep. One of the selling features for me with this car was the bluetooth, phone, ipod connections, and steering wheel controls. I want to keep it all! However, being a big music guy and a fan of high quality sound in my car, the factory "power" must go.
I am a DIY'er for many many years and have installed quite a few systems, one of which I competed at local sq events. So I know how to install. But, I have never done a factory integration before. My main problems come in the form of; 1.) Where will the Mazda Bose signal come from to send to my own components? 2.) Does the head unit process anything in this car (i.e. 5.1, equalization, crossover) or is it all done by way of the external amp? 3.) Where are the speakers crossed over, i.e. are they passive components in the doors or are they actively crossed in the amp? 4.) Is the center channel actually a center channel? Does it reproduce a theater 5.1/dolby/thx?
Now, here is what I thought. Let me know if this sounds good. Taking the signal directly off the head-unit. Run it to an audiocontrol line convertors to change the high levels to RCA outs. Go to a Audiocontrol EQ and then to my amps. I just dont know what to do. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated...!!!
