Man trapped in van for 25 yrs to be released in mid summer 2002!
Man just put down 1G cash on new Mini Cooper S, and has high hopes he will once again be able to stop and turn again!
Man hopes to trade in his daily 9am gas stop for a monthly slot at the pumps.
Man gives middle finger salute to OPEC.
Man wishes forums help to make Mini do just 2 things UNBELIEVABLY good, stop and turn!
Man also wishes to bring tears to Mr.Clark and Mr.Holdaways eyes with a simular balls to the walls horn style SQ install.
Man does not see SQ install happening soon (due to lack of funds) but does see some funds avalible for stop and turn project.
Man would like experts opinions.

Thank You

<chuckles> That was quite funny smile.gif

I just got done with my horns install and will be in my first comp this weekend. If your looking for horns, call Henry at USD Audio (714) 997-2475 and talk to him. He knows his stuff and is the head salesman there. Just tell him Steve Traynor sent ya (yes, I'm brownosing 'cause I want them to sponor me ;) )

And sponsorship notwithstanding, I am IN LOVE with these horns. Amazing sound quality, staging and even decent tonal balance with minimal tuning. Yes, I still have a TON of tuning to do, but these are awesome speakers. Also, these are the 2nd from the BOTTOM of the line, so I know as the quality improves so will the sound.

Hope this helps some smile.gif

Congrats on the recent purchase. Keep your van, it will fit the Mini in the back and you can "trailer" it to shows in the Ford Enclosed Trailer ....

Since the thing has BMW underpinnings, I am sure that a bunch of stuff already exists and just needs a new product number to link it to your car.

Call Dinan.

I do not wish to offend his Supremness, but I once owned a camaro with a very bad habit, the assend always wanted to lead in the tight twisties.

I have hopes the Brittish car will show better manors.

dartster, I,m thinking USD compression drivers and JBL mids, but first would like to check out some cars with the USD stuff.

Ira, the old mini would fit no problem, the new minis quite a bit bigger ( they should have called it the maxi)

A company out in California already raced the mini and comments on what improvments worked best.

I'm thinking double piston calipers in the front and shorter stiffer coil springs, but affter that I'm kinda lost as I only have 2 Gs to play with, and it looks like they put a good bit more funds into there upgrades.

Please check out this web page and give me some ideas. Their base car was the standard 115 hp mini not the mini cooper s with supercharger and 163 hp. Minimania (http://new.minimania.com/Page.cfm?InfoID=1815)

HAve you driven the Mini Cooper S???? I don't see how you would be in need of better 'stop and turn'....are you going racing??

Excellent post, by the way, very funny smile.gif

Big-T.

Mini Cooper and Mini Cooper S share the same brakes, even though the S makes almost 50 hp more. Most race reports indicate brake fade when raced with stock brakes. I would love to road race the S but SCCA does not have a class for the car :( . I get the car in early june and will drive it a while, maybe do a few auto-x and evaluate performance before any final decisions are made on upgrades. The car is hyped up to do 0-60 mph in 6.9 sec but most test I see put it low 7s, it feels a tad slow to me and I want to see if I can find a few more ponies some where.

The truely sad thing is that they lowered the CR on the Type S and are running 14psi through an air to air intercooler. The thing would be faster with a higher CR, less boost with the air to air intercooler (even though you could run less boost and make more power with out it). The S has a higher punch but the bottom end sucks because of the low CR. The real question is when is Jackson Racing going to make a blower for the standard version since they are only importing 3000 Type S and 15000 standards (higher compression).

Im envious though...I really want one of the new ones, or even an old one for that matter.

James not sure on the SC for the standard Mini, but I know Z-engineering has a SC and Turbo coming out for the standard Mini this august is the plans so around December I would say.......

they have been designing one for the Foci for almost 9months.......and so far the first thing they released was a price tag.......so I turned my head and moved on

biggest thing the mini needs to begin is Suspension, and some breathing work(open up intake and exhaust)
there is one running SOLO II right now that is tearing it up and all he has is
Rally tread tires, cross vaned rotors/upgraded to Hawk HP plus pads,header/catback,intake, and T-body
he claims a gain of 26hp/39torque from his intake/exhaust work alone but no dyno graphs to back it up
