Hopefully someone has done this before.
I'm working on an install in a 2003 Excursion. Customer wants the rear overhead factory DVD player to connect to an aftermarket screen up front (as well as to the factory dropdown). He also wanted a set of infrared headphones in back.
After searching online and downloading info off of Ford's tech info site,, I managed to figure out how to integrate the audio. I'll post full details on how that can be done after I bring my notes home with me.
Problem we are having is how to tap the video output from the DVD player. The RSE has a seperate screen and dvd player both hanging from the ceiling. The cable that carries the video from the DVD player to the screen has about 35 skinny wires. Those wires are either black, white, red or yellow. The other cable coming out of the DVD player has about 10 wires that have to do with power and audio.
I need to find a way to test for which wires carry the video signal. What kind of voltage should those wires read?
Any advice or a point in the right direction would be appreciated.
