Your's was hard? Mine was a snap. Did all the work myself. You only have to alter the body in one spot, where the firewall and tranny hump come together there is a lip which needs to be hammered back to make plenty of room for tranny. Other than that everything else bolts in. E-mail me if you need any help.

My conversion was done on an 84' S-10 Blazer. The kit did not quite fit like it does on a pickup. I also had a 6" high rise on it which made the hood portion a little hard. I had already finished putting 2 layers of Dynamat all of the truck and had the flooring done so I had to work around that when modifing the firewall. I also did not want to run electric fans which caused a little more modification. It was sure nice having all that power when I was done!

I have done many Blazers and trucks, they are all the same. You put Dynamat on the outside? The "mod" to the tranny hump and firewall is done outside with a hammer. All you have to do is knock the lip around into the tranny hump and that's it. The high rise was bound to cause problems.
We have done all from a 2.5L 4 cyl up to a 4.3L v-6 swap to 350s to 454s. These are just a bunch of local guys I've done it for.
All you need to really buy from anyone other than a junkyard is the motor mounts. I have found Advance Adapters to have some very nice ones.
Also, to use a standard fan, like flexlite. Use a short water pump and a radiator out of of 79 Z-28, it slips right in with no mods.
Also, so you don't have to swap the driveshaft, use a 700 or 350 tranny with a long tailshaft.
Now if you want a real hassle, try swaping out the 2.5L with a V-8. If I had a pic of it I would show it, it took 2 days just to get the new motor mounts in right. Why, cause there are none, hehe.

What kind of ignition setup did you use? I went with a Turbo 400 tranny as well. I was not into the hammer this out of the way. I cut and modified the whole firewall with new sheet metal (got rid of airbox as well). The adapters I bought did not adapt well at all. I had to modify them because the sterring prevented them from aligning. When I called the company they told me that it is because it is a Blazer, the frame is slightly different between the pickup. Remember all I said that it was not fun ... I never said it was hard. Yes I ran the shorter water pump but I also had a custom front clip I had to deal with.
So you must some kind of pro at this huh?

Me, a Pro, not hardly. Just something I had been doing on the side.
As for the ignition, went with a non-computer controled HEI.
Exhaust manifold of a F-body trans-am or firebird.
Who did you get the adapters through? As for the difference in the frames, we never noticed any between the two.
Also, not that I remember reading, but was your's 2 or 4 wheel drive. The 4 wheel drives are much harder, so if it is I agree.
As for the redoing the firewall, not for me http://www.carsound.com/ubb/smile.gif .
Oh yeah, we used to Turbo 350 on mine. Also we kept the stock rear end in there for kicks. Can you believe it lasted till I sold it, hehe. Well we took mine to the local strip a few times just to play with it. With a small cam, Edelbrock intake and carb, and Flowmaster 2.5" dual exhaust and stock single traction rear end it ran 8.0 sec in the 1/8 consistant. Now we could have went much faster, but this was my daily driver, stock rear end, steel rims, and low profile tires.
This was one of the more funner trucks I built, mainly cause it was my own. After talking about this so much I may have to build another one.....
Damn you gonna make me spend more money, hehe. Hmmmmmmm, a 6-71 supercharged one would be nice....

Another question I have is will I have to swap out my radiator to keep it cool or will the stock radiator work. the radiator is probably the biggest expendature that I am hoping to get around. I have been hearing about a corvette radiator alot, but I dont know if it is necessary. I found a TH350 for $125, I havnt priced a 700R4 yet. Thanx

Well, it depends. What motor do you have in there right now? And how good of shape is the current radiator in. The one everyone talks about is a radiator out of a vette cause it's alluminium and pretty small. It works very well. Actually, any radiator from a 4.3 V6 and up will work great as long as you use a fan shroud. The fan shroud is very important if you wish to not run electric fans.
Like said above, the radiator I used in my personal vehicle was from a 79 Z-28. It could sit at idle on the hottest of days and never run hot.

Well I have owned Chevy, Ford, Dodge, Pontiac, Honda, and VW.
One of the Ford's was an Explorer. I used it to pull my Chevy S-10 to shows. Then the tranny went out twice. So, I sold it, and will I own another one, sure. Only a F-350 though.
So, I have owned all, so now what?

You may want to check out
http://www.jagsthatrun.com
The JTR book helped me when I was looking at the conversion. If you can get the 700r4, I'd say go with that. If you can rebuild it a little tougher, you'll certainly enjoy the fuel economy of that overdrive! The JTR book describes all the issues you can face with the swap.
I almost did the conversion in my 88 Jimmy. But I gave up......saved for a few months and bought a Typhoon. lol
