When to Move on and Up the Ladder?????

When does the industry feel itsd time to move on to either another career or to move up the ladder of Evolution to possible Corporate Employment...You see Installers that have been in the industry 15-20 years and they are only at the level of Install Manager or possibly Regional Install Manager, its been my findings that these indivuals seem to be burned out and slightly bitter to say the least........

The really sad part is that most of us get into this business because it is a hobby that we enjoy. Then we find out that elaborate completely custom installs are not what makes the money for most shops, it's the little deck, deck and 2, and deck and 4 jobs that make the money, so that's what we are stuck with all day.... it does very little for the creative energy that I used to be so happy to pour into every customer's car at a shop that I used to work for, where all we did was custom work.

I haven't seriously worked on my car for months now, although I have a long list of things that need to be done....but by the time I get off of work, I'm so fed up with the customer side of car audio the last thing I want to do is work on my car.

Basically, move up when you feel you are ready, get your resume together and send it out to some contacts you have in the industry, pick their brains for positions available that you could fill.

I am planning on 18 more months where I am at the most, but I have already sent out some resume's in hopes that something comes in sooner than that.

A - When the employee gets adaquate skills to provide value further up the corporate ladder.
